About Us

DougDoug Essenberg, P.T. - is a Michigan native who graduated with a B.A. from Aquinas College. While working in marketing for a rehabilitation company specializing in transitional living for people with brain injuries, Doug found his calling. Intrigued with the way the human body functioned, he decided to change careers. In 2000, Doug graduated with a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from Grand Valley State University. Since then, he has been working in the outpatient orthopedic physical therapy setting, specializing in manual therapy. A desire to provide high quality, individualized treatment and rehabilitation led Doug and his business partner, Adam Beadenkopf, to formulate a plan for a more fully-integrated form of physical therapy care-the type of care you receive at Kentwood Physical Therapy.

Doug believes strongly in the benefits of an active lifestyle. He loves backpacking, canoeing, camping and golfing, and still plays hockey 2 or 3 times a week. Married to Michelle, they are proud parents of two daughters, Ellie and Cecelia.

AdamAdam Beadenkopf, P.T. - grew up in Niles, Michigan earning 9 varsity letters in football, wrestling and baseball at Edwardsburg High School. While competing in sports, he received physical therapy for several sports injuries. Adam’s interest in medicine and desire to help athletes return to their sport as soon as possible led him to pursue a degree in physical therapy. He graduated with honors from Grand Valley State University, with his Bachelor’s degree in Health Science and Master's of Science degree in Physical Therapy. Adam has been working in the Grand Rapids area for over 7 years, specializing in manual therapy, chronic pain and sports injury. He believes strongly in the benefits of physical therapy and finds it tremendously rewarding to help his patients achieve good health.

Adam and his wife, Kristen, are very active in their church. They like to spend time together camping, canoeing, biking and playing softball. They were blessed with a daughter, Dylan Josi, in 2009.

JamieJamie John, P.T. -  grew up in Richmond, Michigan, a small town on the east side of the state. She developed an early appreciation for how physical therapy could help someone regain quality of life, whether a basic activity of daily function or a high level sport. It was then, at age 14, that she knew PT was definitely the career for her. After graduating valedictorian of her high school class, she went on to Central Michigan University, obtaining her Bachelor's of Science in 2001 and Master's of Science in physical therapy in 2004. Fire Up Chips! After PT school, she moved to the Grand Rapids area, accepting a position at a local outpatient orthopedic PT clinic that helped her develop her specialty in manual therapy. It was there that she had the fortune of meeting Doug and Adam. Jamie joined the Kentwood Physical Therapy team in November 2007 and is thrilled to be working alongside Doug and Adam again.

Jamie enjoys just about anything that allows her to be outside in the warmer months, whether running, playing with her dog, working in the yard, or sitting on the beach with a book. Her favorite part of working as a physical therapist is meeting new people and helping them get back to doing the things they enjoy.
